> I don't get it.
I am not surprised, really. Getting Word's find/replace to do what you what isn't simple. Getting Applescript to work with Word objects and Word's dictionary isn't simple. And so on. I am sure that people who have worked with this stuff a lot have probably developed a feel for how to make it work for them, but if you only do AS occasionally as I do, you probably find yourself having to work through everything from scratch each time.
Incidentally,
a. Jim Gordon (over in the 'Mac' part of this site) gave good advice when he suggested that you are unlikely to get Mac-related help in Answers (or on the MSDN/TechNet forums) except in the Mac areas. The Programming part of Answers mainly has Windows/Office VBA people in it. Actually, I do not think there are any really active Applescripters in the Mac Word section either. He is also correct about looking elsewhere.
b. AFAIK the most recent Microsoft documentation for Applescript in Word relates to the 2004 version of Mac Word. Although there have been changes in the Applescript support for Word and AS itself (for example, I'm not sure you had to do the 'of it' you used back then) it's still a useful document.
